ONION NEWS ONLINE TO LAUNCH IN ASIA
October 26th 2008 05:40
The Onion News Network, an offshoot of the satirical newspaper the Onion, will be available to online viewers throughout the UK, Europe and Asia following an exclusive deal with digital distributor MyVideoRights.com.
The Hollywood reporter said the service is starting off with the run-up to the November 4 US election, with the deal partly fuelled by what the partners call “the unprecedented interest that the UK and Europe have shown in the U.S. presidential election to date.”
The Onion News Network, launched in March 2007, produces footage of current events, both real and imagined, and broadcasts non-stop.
It parodies news networks such as CNN and ABC, with much of its humour stemming from interviews and news footage of current events.
MyVideoRights.com features only rights-cleared content. It allows entertainment producers to eran income from video and enables digital publishers to acquire safe, clean advertiser-friendly media.
