TVGUIDE BUSINESS SELLS FOR US$2.8 BILLION
TV Newser reports that Macrovision, a California-based distributor of digital content, is buying TVGuide magazine in the US in a US$2.8 billion deal.
The Gemstar-TVGuide businesses have expanded in recent years, moving beyond the signature weekly TVGuide (which in 2005 was transformed into a larger magazine that follows TV trends) into television programming, new media properties and interactive program guides. It operates the websites jumptheshark.com and fansofrealitytv.com.

Check this out...
Call me old fashioned or just "an old fart" but TV guide lost me as a subscriber because of that change. As more and more programming runs 24/7, they decided to stop listings @ 11:30. The listings from the newspaper does that!

Not an old fart at all James, but probably ahead of the game. TV magazines in their wisdom dropped comprehensive guides as their main selling point because newspapers all started printing guides.
But now the worm has turned again because 24/7 TV, Free to air plus the proliferation of cable means that people now really do need a magazine that gives comprehensive guides to everything that's available.
