WHO’S COMING AND GOING IN AUSTRALIAN MEDIA TODAY
Brisbane’s veteran Nine newsreader Heather Foord today celebrates 20 years on air.
Peter FitzSimons finished his full-time radio career today as he signed off from 2UE breakfast.
NewMatilda.com editor Jose Borghino will quit as of December 10, to return to Europe for family reasons.
He became editor of the website in July 2005. In September this year the site became free and claims a 30 percent increase in traffic over the past three months.
He will continue to write regular reports for NewMatilda.com from overseas.
The new editor will be Marni Cordell who has been the associate editor for the past two and a half years. Rachel Hills, who has been with the site since April, will become associate editor.
Melbourne journalist Charles Wright has been signed up by Stan Beer’s iTWire web site, to write a new blog called ShrinkAge, about the technologies that enhance personal and global mobility.
Wright is a former police roundsman, aviation roundsman, political roundsman, TV critic and wine writer. He was computer editor of The Age, assistant editor of the Australian Financial Review, news editor and chief sub-editor of The Australian, and Melbourne bureau chief of News Ltd publications.
Wright is also a former president and life member of the world's largest computer user group, Melb PC. He is a widely known consumer advocate and public speaker, and for several years he appeared as a weekly commentator on ABC Melbourne Radio 774's Jon Faine Show.
The Yangon-based Myanmar Times has been on a journalism recruitment drive in Australia and has appointed two journalists to fill key positions.
