Folio reports that British-born Harper's Bazaar editor-in-chief Glenda Bailey has been named to the Officer class of the Order of the British Empire, an honor that Queen Elizabeth II or Prince Charles will personally deliver to recognise her services to British journalism and British fashion in the US.
Since Bailey was named editor-in-chief of Bazaar in May 2001, newsstand sales have increased by 38 percent and the magazine has received a number of awards, including a 2007 Lucie Award for Fashion Layout of the Year and an award Best Fashion Cover in 2007.
In 1988, Bailey launched British Marie Claire and served as its editor-in-chief for eight years, during which the magazine became the biggest-selling fashion magazine in the UK. She also won three Magazine Editor of the Year Awards, five Magazine of the Year Awards, and two Amnesty International Awards.
