NO GOLDEN GLOBES BROADCAST THIS YEAR, JUST A PRESS CONFERENCE
January 9th 2008 03:42
No writers, no stars, no awards ceremony. This year the Golden Globes have been reduced to a press conference, and a party.
The Writers' Guild of America's strike and the Screen Actors' Guild telling celebrities not to cross the picket lines has led to the cancellation of the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 13, the first such casualty of the writers' strike.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has since said it will hold a 6 pm press conference to announce the winners this Sunday, when the lavish awards were supposed to be broadcast.
Last year’s 64th annual Golden Globe Awards drew 2.6 million viewers on CTV, up 17 percent compared to the 2006 broadcast.
