CAMBODIAN TV STAR POSSIBLY VICTIM OF A REVENGE ATTACK BY JEALOUS WIFE

Cambodia’s French language newspaper, Cambodge Soir Hebdo, reports that, “the Cambodian news media has been embroiled in a story about an assault against DJ Ano, a popular youth-market n actress and TV presenter who is quite popular among the youths."
Suon Pheakdei, aka DJ Ano, hasn’t been seen on TV3 channel for about three weeks and nobody is able to explain her absence.
Some newspapers and magazines described an alleged assault against DJ Ano as revenge by a jealous wife, most likely a woman from a powerful family. According to reports, the 27-year-old actress had her hair shaved and her face disfigured with razor blades used by henchmen hired by the wife of a “lok thom” (Big Mister, a high-ranking official).
Neither the police nor officials from TV3 have confirmed anything.
There is no direct witness, nor was there any photo published about the assault. No complaint was made by the family of the actress, nor did her family provide any declaration to the news media. Nevertheless, the rumour has taken hold in the news media.
Several Cambodian actresses and popular singers have been assaulted in the last few years.
In 1999, Piseth Pilike was assassinated, Touch Srey Nich was shot in 2003 and received intensive care in Bangkok and in the US, and in 2007 Pov Panhapich was shot, and taken to Vietnam for emergency care.
Most of these murders and assaults are revenge attacks from wives belonging to powerful families. They and their henchmen seem to have have immunity from justice.
