ASIAN TELCOS READY TO INVADE THE US TO CAPTURE THE PREDICTED AMERICAN MOBILE PHONE DATA BOOM
December 11th 2007 21:54
Business Week reports that mobile phone technology in Asia is several years ahead of the US market, and Asian telecom and technology firms are stepping in, believing that mobile data services is about to explode in the US just as it has in places like Japan, China and South Korea.
Business Week said “Among them are Japan-based carriers DoCoMo and KDDI.
“DoCoMo… believes that the time is right to strike in the US; it's particularly interested in somehow partnering with Google to build a mobile network in the US, should the search giant win next month's spectrum auction.
Most Asian firms predict most potential for growth will come from mobile web and mobile web-based services.
